Aevaterra manufactures high-performance roofing sheets and construction materials from recycled plastic waste, addressing Nigeria's housing crisis and plastic pollution simultaneously.
Aevaterra's technology was developed by a Professor of Chemical Engineering at Covenant University, trained at Washington University St. Louis and the University of Lagos. He holds Federal Government of Nigeria patents, received NUC and NOTAP national awards for innovation, represented Nigeria at a WIPO international innovation contest in Ethiopia, and co-led the design of Africa's first electric automobile engine. The science behind our materials is not theoretical. It has been tested, documented, and proven in the laboratory.
Lagos alone produces an estimated 13,000 tonnes of solid waste daily. A significant proportion is plastic that ends up in waterways, streets, and landfills, creating flooding, health hazards, and environmental damage.
Nigeria has a 28 million unit housing deficit. Roofing sheet prices have risen 62–75% since 2024 due to naira depreciation and near-total dependence on imported building materials. For millions of Nigerian families, a decent roof is now out of reach.
Every plastic roofing product currently available in Nigeria is imported, primarily from China. There is no domestic manufacturer of recycled plastic roofing materials, until now.
